How merovanquilo Actually Started
Back in early 2021, I was consulting for small businesses around Plymouth. Same pattern kept showing up—brilliant people with solid ideas running into cash problems that had nothing to do with their actual business model. They just couldn't see their financial picture clearly enough to make informed decisions.
One client was a graphic designer who thought she was profitable. Turned out she was losing money on half her projects because she hadn't factored in revision time or software subscriptions properly. Another ran a café that seemed busy but couldn't explain why the bank account stayed empty. The disconnect between activity and actual financial health was staggering.
merovanquilo grew from those conversations. We started running workshops in late 2021—just practical sessions on tracking expenses and forecasting cash flow. By 2023, we'd developed full programmes around budgeting specifically for entrepreneurs who wear multiple hats and don't have time for traditional bookkeeping courses.
Now we work with business owners across the UK who need straightforward financial education without the corporate approach. Our autumn 2025 programmes are already filling up, which tells us the need for this kind of honest, practical support hasn't gone anywhere.
